STYLE EMULATION. Not something I do often - or at all, I thought! But inspiration called for it tonight.

In case you can't tell, it's me, in the style of Asterix, as drawn by Albert Uderzo. Or an attempt at such! Relatively successful, I think. If you're unfamiliar with Asterix... SHAME ON YOU. I guess not all americans would know about him... but here in Quebec, everyone I know (myself included) was practically raised on Asterix comics and movies. Seriously. Then again, they are awesome.

And uh... I guess my name fits.

Except not so much.

At least the stylization is interesting.

Angel of Mystery

Spooooky! Another angel with wings in weird places. I don't have a name for her right now!

The angel of Daring

Hevan!
This is at the same time a recycle of an old, obscure character that was never properly developped, AND the start of a new series of character designs, I guess. He's got the armour thing going, and vaguely hawk-like wings - on his elbows. Which isn't the most logical place for wings, but I felt like it!

Nitrine Plus

I've had this lying around for several weeks. Since before it happened in the comic, but I couldn't exactly post it and ruin the surprise!
I went through countless countless sketches, but this was the first really "final" design for the suit. Of course it's not drawn exaclty in the style of the comic, and a few minor things did change again before the final final, but most everything is there. And I added power swirlies for the fun of it.

Robot003

Not much tech talk to do about this one. I presume it would have many unlikely weapons hidden all over, like Grendizer or something.

Gazelle

2007-07-04 (42k image)
Back to honourary pirates! This is Gazelle. Just Gazelle. She's not technically a pirate, but I always thought she'd be right at home in the pirate world. Besides, it's not a big leap from thief and gambler to pirate. Pirates are basically ass-kicking thieves with style.
There are fifteen things you should know about her:

  • This character's soul burns with unquenchable flame!!
  • Its hair shines like a cascade of pure light or the tail of comet
  • The character doesn't like to talk about itself. It does, however, love getting others to talk about themselves - perhaps revealing more than they intend.
  • This character makes its career as a thief
  • It is female
  • She never dresses casual.
  • This character likes to take decisions by chance
  • It shares its wild, danger-filled life with a partner in crime slash lover
  • She always has a breeze in her hair, a smile on her lips, a sparkle in her eye and a sway in her hips
  • She comes from a poor, disgraced family, and tries constantly to hide her background.
  • This character dresses very lightly; it considers clothing in general a burden, and armour in particular a sign of weakness
  • This character's body is wispy and delicate
  • The character is a gambler
  • This character is always on the move, and it's rare for her to stay in one place for long amounts of time.
  • She tends to drink a lot of ale, and could outdrink the heaviest barbarian; it wins her much gold in bets.

Robot002

Geeky babbling ahead!

I gave this guy a more military feel, I guess. Also, while the previous one was a general super-robot, meant to have ninja-like agility with its long legs, but not much else in the way of specialization, this one has a very definite purpose.
It's a robot for destroying ground-based installations. In the cockpit, the pilot is strapped in and facing down and forward, to survey targets below, which are then eliminated with the machine gun below the cockpit, the huge cannons in the shoulders, and the missile pods in the thighs and etc. Ooh yeah, it has spotlights on the sides of the cockpit to help.
The propellers are not used for flying, really. They are mostly to slow the robot's fall when it is air-dropped, or after a jump powered by the rocket boosters behind its legs. The propellers also help it keep its equilibrium when using the minimum-contact-area mode, which allows it to cross many kinds of terrains, and minimize the risk of land mines? The legs can also open up and form larger platforms/feet for greater stability when necessary. The frowny face at the top is full of radar and equipments and stuff - for navigation and communication. there's a little ladder in the torso there, if the pilot for some reason needs to climb from the cockpit to the "head". The beefy arms were added more as an afterthought, and are probably optional modules, used mostly to handle additional weapons, such as the not-coompletely-drawn bazooka-thing there.
I see these being used by a tyranical and vastly superior military as a cheap extermination mechanism for "rebel scum". Just fly by in a ship, and drop a handful of these over the rebel base. Wooo. Not classy, but desctructive.
If you say to me that the robot is rather phallic in its design, I will say to you two things:
1: Well, duh.
2: So what?
