And Daran again. Despite having a male-ish name, she's probably the girliest of my girl characters right now. Anyway, a more detailed costume design. I like it. That's supposed to be a sort of chainmail belt around her waist.
I always feel my drawings are too small and you can't see anything when I post them here. Is this the case?

Messy page of little drawings bunched together. Here I was trying to design a young pilot guy. First I tried to do a full figure, but I didn't like it, and didn't feel like erasing. So I used to rest of the page to get a better idea what he would look like. I drew a face in the upper left corner, didn't like it so much, so I drew another, and liked that young/innocent/pure look. So I gave some clothes in the bottom, saw what he looked like without his jacket on the right side of the page. Then I tried to design some winged symbol to go on the back of his jacket, and by linking two symbols that were drawn next to each other (with originally no relation to each other), I made one I liked. It has two wings curving back inwards, doing a sort of circle, as on the little picture in the bottom right.
And that's it! He's a pilot. And maybe something else.

Aaaand another one for today. I often deplore (to myself) the fact that I will, once in a while, completely redesign a character of mine... but that barely ever happens with my male characters. Of course I also lament how I have so few memorable male characters (Name one, I dare you!).
So here I went, and redesigned Phénix. (guy in the bottom right of this picture) Last time I redsigned him, all I did was add a scarf. Heh. Now he's different. I would've done more with this picture, but I don't like it -that- much now. Though I still like it quite enough to proudly post it as a sketch.

Drawing Daran the other day reminded me how much I hated Daran's face markings. So I got to thinking again about how else they could be. I had done this before, as seen here. But this time, I'm fairly confident I found something I like. It took a whole page of ugly doodling, but right there in the bottom right corner I found it, and then went to add it to the head I had already drawn at the top. ...Opinions?

This guy was sketched in pencil, inked and flat-coloured in Flash, then taken back to Photoshop for shading. That's a technique I may use more in the future. I like being able to control my lines perfectly, and Flash lets me do that. I guess I could use Illustrator (since I need it as a bridge between Flash and Photoshop anyway), but I'm just really comfortable in Flash after working with it so much.
This guy's name is Guy Omni. It's an anagram. I love his spindly legs. He's silly :P

I did this a few days ago, following a short sort-of series of trying different things with existing characters of mine. I rarely do portraits, and hadn't drawn Heidi here in a long time. Yet I was so pleased with my pencil sketch, that I didn't even modify it at all after scanning, except to remove scanner dirt. I was less pleased with the colouring job I did in the evening, but now I've warmed up to it, no pun intended.
